Legacy Data Migration Services
Legacy storage platforms eventually become a business risk. End-of-support systems, aging infrastructure, rising maintenance costs and vendor lock-in can limit an organization's ability to modernize and scale. At the same time, compliance obligations require businesses to preserve and protect historical data throughout the migration process.
Interlock Technology provides legacy data migration services that help organizations move data from aging storage platforms into modern NAS, Object Storage, Public Cloud and S3 environments.

Why Organizations Modernize Legacy Storage
Many organizations continue to rely on platforms originally designed for long-term archive retention that no longer meet modern performance, scalability, cloud integration and AI-readiness requirements.
End-Of-Life Storage Platforms
Legacy infrastructure reaching support deadlines.
Vendor Lock-In Reduction
Moving away from proprietary storage dependencies.
AI & Analytics Data Preparation
Preparing historical data for modern AI and analytics initiatives.
Data Center Modernization
Storage refresh and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
Compliance & Governance
Maintaining auditability and retention requirements.
Application Separation
Separating applications from legacy storage infrastructure while preserving accessibility.
Cloud Adoption Projects
Migration into AWS, Azure and S3-compatible environments.
Storage Consolidation
Reducing operational complexity and infrastructure costs.
Legacy Platforms We Support
Our migration technology enables organizations to modernize legacy application storage, migrate archive repositories to NAS, Object Storage, Public Cloud and S3 platforms, and prepare historical data for future cloud, analytics and AI initiatives.

Compliance, Governance & Data Integrity
Legacy migration projects often involve regulated business records, archived communications and compliance-sensitive information that must remain accurate, accessible and auditable throughout the migration process.
Data Integrity & Validation
Ensuring migrated data remains complete, accurate and unchanged throughout the migration lifecycle.
✓ SHA256 Hash Validation
✓ Data Integrity Validation
✓ Metadata Preservation
✓ Object-Level Verification
The Interlock migration platform performs a SHA256 hash when an object is successfully read from source storage. This hash is then compared against the object written to the target platform, ensuring complete validation of migrated data.
Compliance & Governance
Preserving governance requirements and regulatory obligations throughout enterprise migration projects.
✓ Retention Policy Preservation
✓ Compliance Controls
✓ Governance Alignment
✓ Regulatory Requirements
Interlock helps organizations maintain compliance obligations by preserving retention policies, governance controls and compliance-related metadata during migration and modernization initiatives.
Auditability & Chain Of Custody
Providing complete visibility and reporting throughout the migration process.
✓ Audit Reporting
✓ Chain Of Custody
✓ Exception Tracking
✓ Migration Reporting
If source and target SHA256 hashes do not match exactly, the object is automatically identified as an exception and recorded within migration reporting. This provides a highly auditable migration process with complete visibility into validation results and migration status.
These protocol transformation capabilities help organizations unlock historical data, eliminate vendor lock-in, support AI and analytics initiatives, and prepare legacy information for modern storage, cloud and compliance requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
01.
What is legacy data migration?
Legacy data migration is the process of moving data from aging storage, archive or application
platforms into modern environments while preserving compliance and accessibility.
03.
Can tape archives be migrated to cloud storage?
Yes. Interlock can migrate tape-based archives into NAS, Object Storage and S3 environments.
05.
Can Interlock Migrate Enterprise Vault FSA Environments?
Yes. Interlock Technology provides Enterprise Vault File System Archiving (FSA) migration services to help organizations modernize legacy archive environments and eliminate dependency on aging storage platforms. Our migration technology supports the movement of archived file data from Enterprise Vault FSA into modern NAS, Object Storage, Public Cloud and S3-compatible platforms while preserving metadata, retention policies, directory structures and compliance requirements.
02.
Can Interlock migrate ECS CAS to S3?
Yes. Interlock supports ECS CAS to S3 migrations as well as other protocol transformations.
04.
How does Interlock preserve compliance during migration?
We maintain auditability, metadata, retention policies and validation throughout the migration process. The Interlock migration software performs a data hash when the object is successfully read from the source storage. This hash is then compared to the target storage when the object is written. If these hashes do not match exactly, the object is deemed an exception and would be reflected as such in the report. The hash we use for compliance comparison is SHA256.
